Case Details

A 24-year-old patient, came to the OPD with disfigured left eye after trauma, few years back. He wanted cosmetic correction, before his wedding this year. The patient was diagnosed to have anterior staphyloma with blind eye on the left side.
The patient was planned for a staged surgery. Initial stage was evisceration with silicone implant to replace the diseased eye. In the second stage, a customized prosthesis was built for the patient to match his eye colour and fitting.
The patient underwent the first surgery at R N C free eye hospital without any charges under the expert care of our Oculoplasty surgeon Dr. Shalin Shah. The patient is very happy with his appearance now. Such procedures help built the confidence of our patient, helping them overcome the stigma associated with disfigured eyes.
